All of my end-grained bamboo boards have variations in color and many have 'beauty spots'. Like wood, bamboo needs to be kiln dried after being harvested. This heating process will cause variations in the caramel coloring, some will have 'beauty spots'. These variations and spots are normal and does not change the effectiveness in the cutting board's strength. Many customers like it because it gives the board a warmer, more aesthetic look.
